Total Search Queries Are Up For Facebook And Down For Google
If this is a major shift in the search habits of web users then it’s a major story. However the figures are for one month only, April to May 09, and could well be a simple blip. It’s interesting though that searches on the major search engines are all down while Craigslist has seen the biggest rise in search queries followed by Facebook.
We know Facebook is overhauling it’s search engine to include status updates, notes and links in addition to the current user names and groups. The question though is what will Facebook users actually be searching for on Facebook that is different to searches on Google or Yahoo?
Craigslist, up 12%, is more likely to give useful links for services and products at the moment, but a Facebook Business Page may well be a good future investment for the small to medium business.
