Smartphones pose security risk, says government minister

Smartphones pose security risk, says government – Telegraph: “Lord West, the government’s security minister, has warned owners of hi-tech mobile phones that they are in danger of having their personal information hacked. “

In fact they are no more vulnerable than your average laptop on the internet, especially if you’re using a public WiFi access point. Or even your own home wireless network.
Experts warn though that using text messages to access your bank details is leaving confidential data open to interception.

T-Mobiles network servers have been hacked recently and they played down the security implications, but it’s a lesson learned.
Some smart phones are better than others and Apple’s iPhone is one of those.

Just don’t keep any personal or sensitive information on one.
