Report describes Spalding Council as excellent
Report describes Spalding council as excellent – Spalding Today:
“A NEW report has described South Holland District Council as an ‘excellent’ authority.
A Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) compiled by government watchdog the Audit Commission put the council in the top 25 per cent in the country, an improvement on the ‘fair’ score it received in its last assessment in 2003.”
The councils drive to increase the numbers of affordable homes in the area and the increase in waste collection and recycling were also singled out for praise.
“Other areas in which the council impressed the commission included its work with police and others to reduce crime as well as creating and encouraging opportunities for new trade and business.”
Some may take issue with the last point. There have been several instances recently where the council is accused of being obstructive to potential new businesses by citing objections to signage outside shops for example.
And they still haven’t sorted out the ridiculous traffic management in the town centre, which many local residents say is due to the over use of traffic lights, particularly at the Station Road/Winsover Road junction.
