New shiny toys

I’m about to jump on the tube across London to the Regent Street Apple store to hopefully purchase a new MacBookPro.

This will replace a venerable G4 Powerbook, currently in Dubai, that has travelled with us around the world several times. Although still perfectly serviceable, it’s time for an upgrade. The new machine will wing it’s way back to Dubai next week, where it will remain for probably the next 12 months, except for the occasional flight out to the US, back to Europe, possibly Asia and India as well.

In the meantime the old Powerbook will get a reformat, a fresh install of Leopard and a clean up before a listing on eBay.

That is unless I decide to keep it for sentimental reasons. It can go up on the shelf alongside the Cubes. It’s a testament to Apple that all these relatively old school computers are still useable and capable of running the latest OSX system.

Try doing that with Vista and your 6 year old Windows PC.
